Weekends
9
Last weekend, instead of getting work done like planned, or cleaning our filthy house, we spent both Saturday and Sunday relaxing at the pool.
I didn’t take many pictures, but a few are worth sharing.
{disclaimer: pictures of me holding the baby are taken by hubby at my request}
The cutie is my friend Anna’s baby, Alex. He’s 4 months old and is absolutely adorable.
The flowers below are my favorite type of potted flower. A year ago I bought seeds and planted them, and only this year did they bother to start blooming like crazy. I’ll post more pictures of the urn some time, but they look gorgeous.

This is probably coming 8 weeks too late, and by now most of you have already figured out how to work with focus in a self portrait situation. However, for those who are new to this, this will make your life just a little bit easier.
The hardest thing about shooting self-portraits is the focus. You might have the concept, you have the model ( you ), and the location, proper framing can be done in post-processing, but how do you shoot without looking in the viewfinder?
The key to this is, of course, the right equipment. You are going to spend 10 x the amount of time on a self portrait if you are shooting without a remote. You will be limited to fewer locations if you don’t have a tripod.

Oh I had so many ideas for this one, but as usual something had to go wrong.
My remote replacement came in without batteries on Thursday and I just didn’t get a chance to run to the store and get those tiny tiny batteries, so i was limited to the ideas that could be done with a timer { again, what a bitch}. I am still very happy with my shot. It sort of looks similar to a shot my friend Anastasia ( blog link would go here if she actually uppdated her blog} did for her now-husband where she held a big cardboard (?) with some wording on it, while in the nude. I thought it was a brilliant shot at the time.
The idea of this particular shot came to me suddently and after I shot it, I realized that I must have been inspired by her image,...
