Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Written by Elena @ Selfie Magic on . Posted in Self Portraits, Weekly Photo Challenges

Before i start on the Scavenger Items I have to say that I WAS BLOWN AWAY by the quality of photos this week for the Model Eyes challenge. To be honest, after I posted the tutorial, I was worried that people would think it’s “stupid” and not do it, or those who attempt to do would hate the photos and not post them.
In reality, you did BETTER than I could have ever expected! Who knew model eyes DO work for everyone? I was shocked at the model quality looks these photos brought out in you! Of course, nothing is perfect without practice, so make sure you keep working on them if you don’t feel you completely “get it”, but again, DAMN, GIRLS, YOU LOOK SEXY!

Also I’d like to mention that I am very excited that some of you decided to step out of the shadows that our big DSLRs create and chose to shine, starting now! I am very happy that SELF LOVE post served as a push for some of you to REALLY get out there and step in front of the camera. I am hoping that by example more and more women stop being afraid to be beautiful.

Now, onto this week’s Scavenger Hunt items {Ashley, I am still waiting for those model eyes of yours. I know it’s late, but I really want to see them so that I could make fun of you :) hahaha You know I am kidding (not).}

CAMERA PHONE:

{taken on St Patty’s Day at the beach. The usual beautiful sunset of Naples. Even stupid cell phone camera can’t ruin the shot.
To see my week in cell phone photos ( and for some reason there were quite a few this week}, go to my personal blog, The Art of Making a Baby.

CAMERA:

{Had to pull it from the archives. Ran out of time to shoot “camera”, though it would have been a really easy one.}

SHOES:

{ Yup, that’s my BCBG sandals floating in the pool.  They better not fall apart after this}

CHAIR:

{Ok, this was taken today, i really really really didn’t want a picture of a lounge chair. So this is a little bit of a cheat. Technically my husband took it, however I set the settings, told him exactly what I want out of the picture, where to stand and where to point, I edited the photo as well. That’s what I call a glorified tripod. really…he doesn’t mind…}

IMPERFECTION:

 {I ADORE THIS SELFIE. However, since I was shooting it without a remote (I lost the damn thing again}, the focus was really hard to nail down, because when you finally sit down in the hammock, it moves all over the place and it’s almost impossible to position yourself where your camera is currently focused on. So yes, it IS out of focus. It doesn’t look as bad with this type of vintagy edit, since most old cameras had trouble with the focus, but still… if you want to be a perfectionist ( which i can be), this is total IMPERFECTION.}

    I love them all, you’re right even a bad cell phone can’t mess up that first shot. I’m inspired by your camera shot. Maybe I could do something like that for my model eyes. I just haven’t had time this past week to do much shooting. I’m hoping that’ll change this week. Is this week the I am Beautiful challenge or something different?

    Great shots! I really love the one of your shoe floating in the pool, the water looks amazing! Makes me sad that we’re heading into winter here. Not that Aussie winters are very cold, lol but definitely not pool weather!

    I get such a kick out of your photography – I want to know how often you jumped behind the camera when you were a model; you’re just a natural at this!
