learning to jump…
I’m starting my edits as far back as 2007, though I will probably jump around depending on my mood. That was the year we hosted a Black and White Martini Party for Labor Day. It was also the same party that I met some of my fellow bloggers ( back when I had a blog on a Russian blogging service). I always love meeting with people I know well online- it’s so much fun.
The two girls arrived throughout the day, one with her hubby, another with her new baby and it was instantly pool time.
This was also the week I got my first DSLR, so I was just learning to use it.
Being the pro pool jumper ( lol jk), I tried to get the shyest one, Nat, to jump with me. After a few attempts to literally walk into the pool by her, she finally got the “run and jump” method.
After the pool , we grabbed some food with mandatory around the table self portraits
Again, you can tell who was a bit more shy and who was all about having fun
Note: Nat did warm up towards the end and turned into quite a party girl
Case in point: Nat making my hubby into a devil, with his help of course
I have 4 more days of the party to edit, so more pictures coming up.
Photo books
I finally got around to making and ordering my second Blurb Photo book. I have a lot of ideas for photobooks, but not enough time in the day to get them all done. Luckily, Blurb makes it relatively easy with BookSmart. They have really improved the software since the last time I made a book, including adding a photo spread, where you can have one massive photo have the span of two pages
YAY
So my last book was about my mom’s adventures in the US, when she flew over to visit us. I shipped it all the way to Russia, straight from Blurb. This time the book was for me. I’ve been meaning to create a book of all the clones, photo manipulations and conceptual photos I’ve done, and use this book as a table book. Everyone loves seeing some of our trickier shots and this would serve as a perfect table book.
My next project will be The Book of Jumps ( self-explanatory), and then a book of 8 years of our life together, month by month, and then a pregnancy book, and then a baby book…. I can go on and on and on.
So this new book is titled Creative Self-Portraiture and it has 3 sections: 1. Clones, 2. Image Manipulation and 3. Creative Portraiture
I liked how the new Blurb software lets you create completely custom layouts, modify every layout, and of course the usual: themes, colors, etc.
So now I’d like to present to you my brand spanking newbook:

And if you’re all lucky, I might be able to do a Blurb book giveaway. Wouldn’t that be fun!?
Beach Photography
I do not think I will ever get tired of photographing beach atmosphere. Every time I am at the beach, it feels and looks different.
The light is absolutely amazing all day long and all year round. It really transforms the area.
To see pictures of us from that day, you can click here, since I only post my own photography here, and leave pictures my husband took and the storyline for the personal side of things.
Weekend Boat Trips are just the best!
I will definitely miss them. This time I didn’t underestimate the hot Florida sun and kept reapplying sunblock.
Awesome boating time, awesome friends, skinny dipping, girls daring my hubby to putmy bikini on, him actually doing it and modelling it for us, laughing till we’re snorting, trespassing, hitting massive waves, making dinner and crepes, eating italian ice cream and passing out from sheer exhaustion- that’s what Florida weekends are all about.
