“And maybe it’s true…

Written by Elena @ Selfie Magic on . Posted in Self Portraits, Weekly Photo Challenges

…that I can’t live without you.”

I finally got around to going through some of the photos I took for one of the past Selfie Saturdays. Last time I posted a photo from that series, I actually took my pregnant belly away, because that wasn’t the point of the photo. But I’ve been excited to share with you the actual shots with my belly.

So here we go. These were all shot as a self-portraits, which was pretty difficult in this situation, with the hill and the backlighting and focus. So I can’t say I am happy about them or the sharpness. But you gotta make compromises when it comes to self-portraiture.

Selfie Saturdays Week 29 – 2 Selfies Today

Written by Elena @ Selfie Magic on . Posted in Self Portraits, Selfie Saturdays, Uncategorized

I am very happy about not having to stick to a theme, you guys! :) Selfies are hard enough to find time for to be bound by some guidelines. Hope that makes it easier for you to take more self-portraits too!

In addition to that, Selfie Saturdays seem to help me take my photos for the pregnancy book ( remember? The one where instead of taking bump shots, which I still do take and post here, I’ve been taking photos of things happening each week throughout the pregnancy that are baby related). Maybe, some of you struggling to find the time to do self-portraits should come up with a photo book idea – like “A month in our lives” or “52 weeks of me” or “Every Evening, we/I…” and do self-portraits for the book. It really helps to have a goal like that.

So this week I actually took 1 shot for the book and 1 shot just for my own purposes.

The shot below was taken next to the pink painted spot, when we found out our little baby is a girl. We’re actually painting the room lavender, but before we covered up that spot, I wanted to make sure I have a picture to remember that moment by.

I had a little bit of a dilemma on this one. Let me know what you think:

I had two shots that I couldn’t have put in the 1st slot of the diptych: one perfectly focused but with a face that seemed to project confidence and even arrogance , which didn’t seem to fit the photograph. And another shot (the one I used) that was focused on the tray instead of my face (the perils of self-portraiture) but with a softer, kind of curious face.

Would you go for perfect focus or more fitting expression?

Oh and probably for the first time on THIS blog, you get to see me au naturel- no make up, bed head, home clothes- YAY to being real!

My second self-portrait for this week:

a couple that we know sent us a co-sleeper off of our registry ( and yes, for those who are curious and don’t read my pregnancy blog, we’re soooo going the attachment parenting route). So after we assembled it, I just HAD to take a picture because 1. it’s our first baby bed and 2. what kind of thanks would it be if I didn’t enclose a picture of us with the co-sleeper? Not my kind of thanks – that’s for sure!

Speaking of baby gifts, as some of you might have read in my other blog, I am completely astounded by the fact that people that we barely know, people that live miles away from us, all over the world are the ones sending us our first baby gifts! It makes me so grateful to have friends and clients like that in our lives that we met via business dealings or Internet.

Wordish Wednesday

I love colorful photos. And there’s no place more colorful than my friend’s house.

As promised I am posting some of the pictures I took that day.

The only one downside to this amazing view is the “no-see-ems” (sand flees) in the evening.

Selfie Saturdays Week 28

Written by Elena @ Selfie Magic on . Posted in Self Portraits, Selfie Saturdays, Uncategorized

Wow, with all the commotion and finding out the sex of our baby, I completely forgot to post Selfie Saturday Post.
But I actually DO have a self-portrait I did with this week in mind.

The day before we found out the sex of our baby, I had a friend come over and help me out with the nursery. I was having a minor breakdown about window treatments :)

She totally solved it for me ( THANK YOU MICHELLE!) and we commemorated the moment by taking two pictures for the pregnancy book.

GENDER REVEAL VIDEO!

Written by Elena @ Selfie Magic on . Posted in Video

As some of you might know, The Art of Making a Baby blog crashed due to high traffic when I posted the video. Adjusting my plan to unlimited traffic didn’t solve the problem, so my hosting co is looking into it, but I’m not holding my breath since it’s a holiday weekend. (update: The site is back up!)

So i figured I’d post it here, so that you guys had the opportunity to comment. Feel free to email me as well at contact {at} prebabyblog.com

So here it is guys!

You’ve been bugging me for 2 days  (in the cutest way possible) to post the sex of our baby.

Yesterday we spent the whole day filming and going to the doctor’s appointment and then I stayed up till 4:30 am editing the gender reveal video ( not the smartest idea! lol).

So now it’s ready. It’s far from perfect, but to make it perfect, I would need a lot more time.

A few notes before you watch:

  • This video is intended mostly for friends and family, so it’s relatively long, but it shows the whole reveal process the way we experienced it.
  • It’s really personal, emotional and sappy and at times really dorky ( mostly on my part as usual)
  • The dorky parts really shows me the way my friends know me.
  • I have so many bloopers from this video that you will definitely get a follow up gag reel. ( i only included one blooper in this video. at the end.)
  • The ultrasound technician said she was 100% sure of the sex of the baby ( and later looking at the ultrasound, there’s no doubt!
  • No, we’re NOT REALLY painting the baby room that particular color.

I am aware  that my “bawlfest” sounded like “ballfest” and my husband and I spent a good 30 minutes laughing our butts off at that.

And I will be writing my 19 week update in a few days here, but the baby was perfect and healthy.
