I am very happy about not having to stick to a theme, you guys!
Selfies are hard enough to find time for to be bound by some guidelines. Hope that makes it easier for you to take more self-portraits too!
In addition to that, Selfie Saturdays seem to help me take my photos for the pregnancy book ( remember? The one where instead of taking bump shots, which I still do take and post here, I’ve been taking photos of things happening each week throughout the pregnancy that are baby related). Maybe, some of you struggling to find the time to do self-portraits should come up with a photo book idea – like “A month in our lives” or “52 weeks of me” or “Every Evening, we/I…” and do self-portraits for the book. It really helps to have a goal like that.
So this week I actually took 1 shot for the book and 1 shot just for my own purposes.
The shot below was taken next to the pink painted spot, when we found out our little baby is a girl. We’re actually painting the room lavender, but before we covered up that spot, I wanted to make sure I have a picture to remember that moment by.
I had a little bit of a dilemma on this one. Let me know what you think:
I had two shots that I couldn’t have put in the 1st slot of the diptych: one perfectly focused but with a face that seemed to project confidence and even arrogance , which didn’t seem to fit the photograph. And another shot (the one I used) that was focused on the tray instead of my face (the perils of self-portraiture) but with a softer, kind of curious face.
Would you go for perfect focus or more fitting expression?

Oh and probably for the first time on THIS blog, you get to see me au naturel- no make up, bed head, home clothes- YAY to being real!
My second self-portrait for this week:
a couple that we know sent us a co-sleeper off of our registry ( and yes, for those who are curious and don’t read my pregnancy blog, we’re soooo going the attachment parenting route). So after we assembled it, I just HAD to take a picture because 1. it’s our first baby bed and 2. what kind of thanks would it be if I didn’t enclose a picture of us with the co-sleeper? Not my kind of thanks – that’s for sure!
Speaking of baby gifts, as some of you might have read in my other blog, I am completely astounded by the fact that people that we barely know, people that live miles away from us, all over the world are the ones sending us our first baby gifts! It makes me so grateful to have friends and clients like that in our lives that we met via business dealings or Internet.
