Scavenger Hunt Sunday

OUT OF THIS WORLD

This was a selfie I took in Tortola, the most “out of this world” place I’ve been to. It’s so quiet and calm and slow, so untouched and tropical. This was such a nice little island that they didn’t need to introduce traffic lights until 2001. Josiah’s Bay was by far our favorite, with us being the only two people on the whole beach. Needless to say we took a million selfies there. This was one of them. I had this image in my head before we even arrived on the island. I knew about this particular beach from the research I had done and I wanted this exact shot. With so many things that usually go wrong with most plans, it was amazing to actually make it happen.

SPRINKLES

I thought long and hard about what image I could use for sprinkles. See, I have NEVER had ice cream with sprinkles, and therefore never took a picture of any. I’m not really a sweet tooth kind of girl ( at least not any more), so when I have ice cream, I find that it’s already way too sweet and never opt for any toppings ( at least when it comes to American ice cream. European ice cream is much better in that sense). So after a few minutes of thinking about what could use as sprinkles photo, I remembered the awesome set we took around Christmastime with my Italian/Russian bestie, Elena, in Celebration, Orlando.
As you can see, it was warm, as it normally is in Florida, and one of the biggest traditions the town of Celebration (and Disney itself) has is pouring fake snow set to music on the main streets in November and December. You should have seen us, we danced and twirled and laughed like mad women. I have a video of that and I watch it periodically to get a load of positive emotions. Maybe when I’m feeling super confident and don’t mind our embarrassing theatrics, I’ll post it here once day- with the bad focus ( hubby CANNOT manual focus the camera in video mode- it’s a disability :) ), classical music and our crazy swan dance.

HAT

These shots were taken in Barbados. The left one was a self-portrait, right one taken by hubby. I think hubs was getting tired of picture taking, hence the funny face :)

CLEAR

Antiguan beaches- clear, long and wide, with perfect sand and perfect waves. Antigua is known for its 365 beaches- one for each day of the year.

Also, I’d like to mention that next week’s Selfie Saturday’s theme is BACKYARD. That simple! No need to be creative if you don’t want to be. Just show us yourself as you’d be commonly found in the backyard. It has to be a self-portrait – that’s the only rule!

Stop Motion Link up- Selfie Saturday Week 15

If you haven’t noticed I added a more prominent FOLLOW ME section on the top right for those of you who are with blogger or other blogs and are not sure how to subscribe/follow me. Just enter your email address in the FOLLOW ME and then confirm the subscription so that you never have to miss some of the selfie goodness :)

This was a very tough week for me. Besides being busy, I seemed to always have something going on. I was really really hoping I’d be able to shoot specifically for the stop motion video rather than use the old vacation photos for it. It didn’t look like it was going to happen until Friday evening, when I literally dragged my hubby to the beach and took 2300 (!!!) pictures in the process.

It was very hard to eliminate certain pictures, but I was determined to fit the whole video to one song.

This was my first attempt at actually staging a stop motion video rather than using the photos I already took for other reasons.

Photography love...

A few things learned:

  • Forget about Manual setting, put it on Av/Tv (whichever you like to use)
  • 16GB card was BARELY enough for all the photos ( I ran out right as we shot the last shot)
  • Having my hubby participate was a lot of fun and it helped to set the camera and give it to him to shoot the parts with me ( he had trouble with focus on continuous mode but all in all turned out fine)
  • Trying to batch edit 2300 photos is a BITCH!

Otherwise, it was a lot of fun to shoot and edit the video. Hope you enjoy it and I can’t wait to see your creations!
If you just stumbled onto this challenge, feel free to link up till the end of next week.

{Most photos in the video are taken by me. Some of the consecutive shots of me were taken by my husband. The movie was directed  and edited by me}

Lazy Summer Days

I do not think I will ever get tired of photographing beach atmosphere. Every time I am at the beach, it feels and looks different.
The light is absolutely amazing all day long and all year round. It really transforms the area.

To see pictures of us from that day, you can click here, since I only post my own photography here, and leave pictures my husband took and the storyline for the personal side of things.
